FAQs

UCP4SUCCESS is a project of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) that aims to boost academic success and reduce abandonment rates. The project implements various initiatives and tools to identify and address the factors that hinder the academic and personal trajectory, especially of first-year undergraduate students.

UCP4SUCCESS is aimed at new students entering the first year of their degree programme in the 2024/25 and 2025/26 academic years, ensuring adequate support in the initial stage of their academic journey.

Other Católica students have the opportunity to support and contribute to the academic and integral development of their colleagues, also benefiting from the resources that will be developed, in a more particular way, through participation in the Peer Mentoring groups.

UCP4SUCCESS aims to help increase first-year degree completion rates, improve assessment results and promote student satisfaction with the academic experience.

In addition, the project offers access to merit scholarships for students who show better progress in their academic performance.

In this way, UCP4SUCCESS not only contributes to reducing school abandonment, but also reinforces UCP's commitment to supporting the success of its students.

UCP4SUCCESS drives and develops a variety of initiatives focused on skills development, personalised guidance and access to innovative tools, enabling students to achieve their goals and maximise their potential.

Among the initiatives is an academic abandonment prediction system that identifies students at risk, which will allow the institution to design support and early intervention measures.

The project also consolidates programmes such as Tutoring by teachers, contributing to the training of interlocutors. It also includes peer mentoring and workshops to promote academic skills.

In addition, collaborative study groups and cultural activities are offered that enrich the academic experience and promote social integration. Merit scholarships, which recognise progress and financially support students, also promote academic success.

No. UCP4SUCCESS initiatives are exclusively for Universidade Católica Portuguesa students.

UCP4SUCCESS activities promote a variety of essential skills. These include time management, teamwork, effective communication, problem solving, critical thinking and adaptability.

The development of these skills, aligned with quality academic training and fostering science for the common good, contributes to the success of initiatives that impact students.

The main ways in which lecturers can contribute include taking part in mapping initiatives, which will enable the planned actions to be developed, as well as their active contribution to mentoring programmes and the development of teaching materials and resources to be used in the project's activities.

In addition, teachers can join working groups, collaborating on UCP4SUCCESS projects and initiatives. The benefits of this participation are significant: they promote professional development and the improvement of tutoring skills, broaden the network of contacts with other teachers and professionals in the field, and contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching.
