UCP4SUCCESS in detail

UCP4SUCCESS is a collaborative project, supported by the PRR and DGES, which aims to prevent school abandonment and promote the integration and academic success of Católica students through the following measures:

  • Implement an intelligent system for diagnosing and analysing abandonment rates and academic (in)success in the different campi, Faculties and Study Cycles;
  • Developing a tool that provides first-year students with the necessary information about Católica and key aspects of adapting to higher education;
  • Improve and institutionalise Peer Mentoring and Tutoring mechanisms at Católica;
  • Empower current and new Católica Mentors and Tutors;
  • Enhance collaborative work and networking between different educational and academic agents, as well as between students/teachers;
  • Promote the integral development of Católica students and their sense of belonging;
  • Promoting motivation, commitment and self-improvement, supporting situations of greater financial constraint.

Funded by DGES under the Impulso Mais Digital Programme, sub-measure Innovation and Pedagogical Modernisation in Higher Education - Programme to Promote Success and Reduce School abandonment in Higher Education, UCP4SUCCESS began in May 2024 and runs until 30 June 2026.

Relationship with other projects

The UCP4SUCCESS develops on initiatives implemented and/or underway at Católica, focusing on preventing school abandonment and promoting academic success. Some examples of this are Católica In! Inovar para Incluir, implemented at the Braga and Porto Regional Centres, with funding from the European Social Fund under the Human Capital Operational Programme (POCH-02-53I2-FSE-0000269) in 2022/2023, and Proteus, at the Lisbon headquarters, with funding from the Directorate General for Higher Education (DGES-PPSRAE023-7) in 2023/2024.

UCP4SUCCESS is closely linked to the Católica Learning Innovation Lab, the UCP's Pedagogical Innovation Lab, funded in 2020/2021 (POCH-02-53I2-FSE-000012), which aims to improve the quality of the teaching-learning process at UCP."
