Carbon Footprint
Commitment to Reducing CO₂ Emissions
The University is firmly committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility, with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality. Our commitment not only focuses on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions but also on implementing practices that ensure a healthier and more sustainable environment for all. We aim to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Assessment and Monitoring of Carbon Footprint
To monitor the impact and progress regarding the carbon footprint, the university conducts an annual assessment of CO₂ emissions. The report is prepared in accordance with internationally recognized standards, such as the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, ensuring transparency and accuracy in accounting for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
Based on regular measurements of our emissions, we are implementing effective measures to achieve carbon neutrality, actively contributing to SDG 13 and a more sustainable world.
Greenhouse gas emissions:
tCO2e Scope 1 and 2
Reference year 2024
- Âmbito 1 - Emissões diretas (e.g. consumo de combustíveis; emissões fugitivas dos aparelhos de refrigeração e climatização; outros) / Scope 1 - Direct emissions (e.g. fuel consumption; fugitive emissions from refrigeration and air conditioning units; others)
- Âmbito 2 - Emissões indiretas (e.g. compra de eletricidade, vapor, calor / Scope 2 - Indirect emissions (e.g. purchase of electricity, steam, heat)
