How the process works

The process unfolds in two stages: an initial appointment at Universidade Católica Portuguesa for verification of the documentation and, subsequently, an in-person appointment at an AIMA Service Centre.

Step 1 – In-person Appointment at Universidade Católica Portuguesa

After arriving in Portugal, applicants must schedule an initial in-person appointment with the Global Engagement Office at either the Lisbon or Porto campus, through the calendar made available for that purpose (Available soon).

On the day of the appointment, all original documentation required for the residence permit application must be presented (see - Documentation).

The Global Engagement Office will submit the documentation through the AIMA platform.

If the documentation is incomplete or does not meet the AIMA required criteria, it will be necessary to schedule a new appointment with the required documentation.

Step 2 – In-person Appointment at AIMA

Following the analysis and validation of the documentation that the Global Engagement Office submits, AIMA will notify the applicant of the date, time and place of the in-person appointment at an AIMA Service Centre.

At this appointment, the original documents must be presented again for confirmation of their authenticity so that the request for a residence permit can be acepted.
