Support in the process for the application for a residence permit

Protocol AIMA - Universidade Católica Portuguesa

Under the collaboration protocol signed between the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) and Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Católica), at Católica support is available to students, researchers and faculty who are third-country nationals in the process of applying for a residence permit to AIMA after arrival in Portugal.

At Católica, this support is provided by the Global Engagement Office, which is responsible for:

  • Collecting applicants' personal data;
  • Receiving and checking the documentation required for the residence permit application;
  • Scanning and submitting the documentation to AIMA through its electronic platform.

This procedure is intended to simplify and expedite the residence permit application process by validating the documentation in advance before submission to AIMA.

Students, researchers and faculty covered by the Protocol may choose to validate their documents through the University to expedite the process, before the in person meeting with AIMA, which is recommended by AIMA, or, alternatively, try to schedule a meeting directly with AIMA to submit their application.

Contact with Global Engagement Office must be made exclusively via the email address globalresident@ucp.pt.
