About the UCP2 Mental Health
I want to learn more about UCP2 Mental Health – Integrated System of Activities and Services for the Promotion of Mental Health and Well-Being.
The UCP2 Mental Health system, which spans the entire Católica University, was created within the framework of the Programa para a Promoção da Saúde Mental no Ensino Superior, by the Directorate-General for Higher Education. It is based on three main pillars: Promotion and Prevention, Psychological Support, and Referral.
The activities and services are being progressively implemented.
It focuses on increasing knowledge about mental health issues and promoting practical self-care and psychological first aid strategies, aiming at the early identification of problems and timely help-seeking.
It focuses on supporting students with common mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and stress. At the Braga, Lisbon, and Viseu campi, the psychological support service is also available to Católica faculty and staff.
The UCP2 Mental Health 24h digital platform, specifically designed for Católica students, will be available soon.
In situations requiring support in other areas (e.g., specific educational needs), students may be referred by the UCP2 Mental Health team to Católica’s internal specialized support services.
In severe cases, at-risk situations, or clinical conditions that fall outside the scope of the University’s psychology services, the students may be referred by the UCP2 Mental Health team to a public and private health institutions within our partnership network.
- Empower students and faculty in self-care, psychological first aid, and the early identification of signs and symptoms of mental health issues.
- Increase the efficiency of psychological support by defining the scope of action, integrating Católica’s mental health services, standardizing procedures, establishing clear pathways, developing the 24-hour UCP² Mental Health digital platform, and creating a network of partnerships/protocols with public and private health institutions.
- Student-focused approach: Planning and implementation must involve students. For this purpose, there is the Student Advisory Panel – UCP Students’ Voices – which serves as the student “voice” within the system.
- Centered on mental health monitoring: A Monitoring & Evaluation team is responsible for tracking the mental health of Católica students – “How is your mental health?”.
- Integrated with other Católica services: UCP2 Mental Health collaborates with services, departments, activities, or projects at Católica, such as UCP4SUCCESS.
The UCP2 Mental Health team is made up of members from the different campi. Meet the team here.
