UCP2Be reinforces the development of socio-emotional skills in the 1st year
Another edition of the UCP2Be course module, launched by UCP2 Mental Health, has come to a successful conclusion. The initiative was rolled out this semester at the chool of Biotechnology and the Católica Porto Business School of the Universidade Católica, involving first-year undergraduate students.
UCP2Be focused on developing social-emotional skills, such as empathy, emotional regulation, resilience, self-awareness, interpersonal communication and responsible decision-making, which are recognised as essential for well-being, academic success and mental health.
Throughout the sessions, the course employed active and experiential teaching methods, encouraging learning, reflection and peer-to-peer sharing. The activities were designed to help students adapt to higher education, a period often associated with high academic demands and emotional challenges.
The overall feedback on this edition was very positive, both from the students and the academic communities involved, with particular praise for the quality of the learning environment and the relevance of the skills covered. With the conclusion of this edition, UCP2 Mental Health reaffirms its commitment to a holistic education focused on human development, psychological well-being and the academic success of students.
It should be noted that the first edition of UCP2Be took place in the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year at the Faculty of Education and Psychology. This edition received a very positive overall assessment, both from students and the academic community at the Faculty of Education and Psychology (FEP) on the Porto campus, helping to establish UCP2Be as an innovative course unit focused on the holistic development of students.
