Three students from Católica elected to the Lisbon Academic Federation

On 21 January, three students from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Lisbon Campus, were elected to the Governing Bodies of the Lisbon Academic Federation.

The Lisbon Academic Federation (FAL) is the representative body for higher education students in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, bringing together 42 academic and student associations and representing more than 100,000 students — the largest academic body in the country.

The Universidade Católica will be represented on the new Governing Bodies by the following students:

  • Ana Margarida Elias: Student at the Institute of Political Studies, elected Member for Image and Publicity.
  • Francisco Rocha: President of the Academic Law Association, he assumed the Presidency of the General Assembly of the Academic Federation of Lisbon.
  • Samir Ali: President of the Academic Association of the Institute of Political Studies, he took office as President of the College of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, acting as the spokesperson for the Catholic University associations with the General Directorate of the federation.

Regarding this new challenge, Samir highlighted:

"As President of the UCP College, I am committed to bringing student associations together around a shared vision. The priority of this mandate is clear: to enhance inter-association cooperation in order to consolidate an influential position in the governance of the University, ensuring that the voice of students is not only heard but effectively integrated into the institution's strategic decisions."
