Sérgio Vasques joins the Wise Persons Group of the European Commission for the Customs Union

Sérgio Vasques, professor of tax law at the Católica | Lisbon School of Law, was invited to join the Wise Persons Group set up by the European Commission to reflect on the future of the Customs Union.

The group aims to discuss how customs can be modernised to deal with issues such as e-commerce, environmental protection in international trade or the use of IT for risk management. The Wise Persons Group brings together 12 leading personalities in the field of European taxation and international trade.

Sérgio Vasques has been studying and consulting in the area of indirect taxation. In recent years, he has advised on tax reform in several African countries as a consultant to the World Bank and IMF.
