Fraudulent communication targeting students at Católica

Universidade Católica Portuguesa was target of a phishing scam aimed at students at our institution. The message in question, which appeared to originate from the University, was not sent by our services.

We would like to inform you that we have sent a message to all students alerting them to this situation, and clear guidance on how to proceed has been shared. The situation is being monitored and the necessary measures are being taken to safeguard everyone’s security.

We would like to emphasise the importance of maintaining safe practices when using email, namely:
• Do not click on suspicious links or those of unknown origin;
• Do not provide personal data, login credentials or bank details via email;
• Delete fraudulent emails immediately.
