Explore the Renaissance of Liberal Arts with the T4EU WEEK TransformEd
“The Liberal Arts tradition began with a simple yet radical question: What does it mean to be free? Not merely in the political sense, but intellectually, morally and imaginatively. This model of education invites students to engage with difficult texts and uncomfortable questions; to trace how language, culture, power, and knowledge intertwine; and to develop the capacity to interpret, to challenge and to create.”
Universidade Católica Portuguesa, a member of the Transform4Europe Alliance, has launched applications for the T4EU WEEK TransformEd: Renaissance of Liberal Arts, which will take place from 20 to 24 October 2025, in Kaunas, Lithuania. There are 5 spots, with all expenses paid, for undergraduate, master's and doctoral students from Católica to participate in this cultural experience and immersive course.
The T4EU Week will take place at the Vytautas Magnus University with an agenda that combines academic and cultural activities. During the event, students participate in a course selected from the nine available: Making Sense of Disagreement: How to Communicate Effectively with Epistemic and Moral Awareness; The Idea of Europe; Critical Heritage; Globalization and International Communication; Field Notes to Frontlines: Anthropology That Matters; Creating A Musical from Scratch: International Musical Theater Workshop; GIS 360°: Maps That Transform Society; Biodiversity Conservation: Understanding, Threats & Solution and Climate Change Science and Solutions.
In addition to the classes, there will be offering various optional activities, including sports, cultural, and scientific events, fostering the exchange of experiences between participants from the 10 European universities.
Over the course of five days, participants will explore subjects at the intersection of knowledge and care, tradition and innovation. Rather than offering ready-made answers, this model encourages deep questioning, interdisciplinary exploration, and personal growth. Through discussions at the crossroads of knowledge, culture, and responsibility, students will engage with complex ideas and develop the tools to connect disciplines and communities.
Each course offers 3 ECTS, recognised in the Universidade Católica Diploma Supplement, and will include both face-to-face and online components.
Applications are open until June 7th and must be submitted online here. The results of the selection will be announced by 14 July 2025. More information is available on the official Transform4Europe page on Católica's website, on the Transform4Europe page or by writing to t4eu@ucp.pt.
