E-book on “Media and Uncertainty” available now

The book gathers the main communications presented at the 2nd edition of the Lisbon Winter School for the Study of Communication, which took place in January 2020, shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic had revealed how uncertainty is a central dimension of contemporary societies.

The piece includes transcripts of the speeches from Sonia Livingstone, Teresa Ashe, Saskia Witteborn, Carla Ganito, Esa Välivorronen, Fathali Moghaddam, James Painter and Victor Picard. Embedded in a pre-pandemic context, the e-book provides a diagnosis on how uncertainty permeates mediatic systems in the most diverse political and cultural contexts, besides discussing the uncertainty mediation processes.

The e-book, produced by the Research Centre for Communication and Culture in partnership with the Center for Media@Risk, is available to download here.

The Lisbon Winter School for the Study of Communication is an organization integrated in the Communication Studies Doctoral Program of the Faculdade de Ciências Humanas, in partnership with CECC, the Center for Media@Risk at Annenberg School for Communication, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the London School of Political Science and the University of Helsinki.
