Católica Provides Research Data Repository for the Academic Community

Universidade Católica Portuguesa launches a new service dedicated to the management, preservation, and sharing of research data. The Católica Research Data Repository aims to support the academic community in adopting good practices throughout the data lifecycle, promoting the sharing and reuse of research data whenever the applicable ethical and legal conditions allow.

Integrated into POLEN DataHub, the national research data repository service provided by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), through FCCN, the Repository enables users to deposit datasets, associate descriptive metadata with them, and assign a persistent identifier (DOI), facilitating their identification and citation. Data can be made available with different levels of access, according to their nature and the applicable ethical, legal, or contractual requirements.

The creation of this service reinforces Universidade Católica Portuguesa’s commitment to Open Science and the adoption of the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable), contributing to making research data more easily findable, accessible, and reusable.

The Repository can be used for data produced as part of research projects, scientific publications, theses and dissertations, as well as other research activities carried out at the institution.

The Católica Libraries support the academic community in adopting good Research Data Management practices, providing assistance throughout the different stages of the data lifecycle, including data organization and management, the definition of access and licensing conditions, and the deposit of datasets in the Research Data Repository.
