Católica Libraries mark T4EU Week with a diverse programme
As part of the T4EU Week UCP Lisbon 2026 (May 25–29), the João Paulo II University Library will host the Transform4Europe community in Lisbon with a diverse programme of seminars, exhibitions, displays, and activities open to the community.
These innicatives reinforces the involvement of Católica Libraries in T4EU alliance initiatives through cultural and exhibition-based activities throughout the week.
The programme includes two seminars, both taking place on the 3rd floor:
- Open Science - Communities – May 26, Tuesday, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
- Open Science - The Role of Libraries – May 28, Thursday, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Among the featured exhibitions:
- “Color Against War” – a digital drawing exhibition by Alireza Karimi Moghaddam, dedicated to themes of peace, humanity, and resistance to war, inspired by Van Gogh’s universe. (3rd floor)
- “Portugal and Europe: 40 Years of Shared Progress” and “Portugal and the Accession to the European Communities: Documents from the Ernâni Lopes Collection” – a commemorative exhibition marking Portugal’s accession to the EEC, complemented by a documentary selection from the Ernâni Lopes Collection on the European integration process and Portugal’s accession to the European Communities between 1977 and 1986. (3rd floor)
- “Kakure Kirishitan – Hidden Christians” – a photographic exhibition on Christian spirituality in Japan and the memory of persecuted Christians who secretly practiced their faith. (4th floor)
- “The Library Through the Centuries” – a bibliographic display featuring works from the 15th to the 21st century, representing the evolution of knowledge and written culture.
- “Insulating dwellings: drawings from Timor in the Ruy Cinatti Collection” – an archival display with documents and drawings on traditional Timorese architecture.
In addition, the community will be able to take part in several activities:
- Jazz concert by the Mike Chain Trio – on May 26, at the library entrance floor, at 4:30 p.m., featuring the presentation of the album Acoustic Roots.;
- Sunset Reading Party – dedicated to reading and sharing, this event will take place on May 26, around 6:00 p.m., in the campus gardens, with books available on site and participants welcome to bring their own books.
- Book Bingo and Reading Corner – a reading space available throughout the week. The Book Bingo initiative encourages the discovery of authors, languages, and cultures through works from T4EU alliance countries and different literary traditions.
