Applications are open for the new Degree in Cinema

Applications are now open for the new Degree in Cinema of the Escola das Artes. This new degree will reinforce the formative offer in the area of film production and creation, after the launch, in 2019, of the Master's Degree in Cinema.

The course follows an innovative teaching model, focusing on the development of real projects that integrate the various technical, professional and theoretical skills of Cinema, over the course of three years (one project per semester in the first two years and one final project in the last year), in a training that also stands out for the technical and artistic accompaniment of directors and creatives from different areas of Cinema, such as João Salaviza, Salomé Lamas, João Braz, Luís Urbano, Rui Poças, João Canijo or Gabriel Abrantes.

The degree and the master's degree in cinema complement each other, allowing the construction of a five-year course, developing projects and promoting the intellectual and artistic growth of the students. This course also frames the teaching of cinema in a close dialogue with other artistic fields - such as sound, music, animation or new media art - which are part of the other formative offer of the Escola das Artes: Degree and Master in Sound and Image or Master in Photography, for example. This complementary approach will allow cinema students to share curricular units and artistic projects with other areas, in a climate of creativity and experimentation, where the different fields of knowledge intersect.

In addition, it is worth mentioning the possibility that this degree offers to contact some of the most important names in cinema, within the vast and diversified cultural program of the Escola das Artes. As an example, in the last two years EA has had important names such as Lucrecia Martel, Ira Sachs, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Atom Egoyan or Todd Solondz  conducting masterclasses and workshops.
