The School of Arts is organising its Open Day, where you can learn more about the areas of Cinema, Sound and Image and Conservation and Restoration, on April 3 at 14.30.
Programme:
Degree in Conservation and Restoration - Diving into ink: drawings with metal nibs, cane and bird feathers - Restoration Building
Description: It was towards the end of the 18th century that metal nibs began to dethrone cane and bird feather nibs. These three drawing and calligraphy instruments share the same problem: ink supply. It's true that some types of metal nib have a small reservoir, thus reducing the frequency of ink supply, but in general they all end up immersed in a container containing ink - the inkwell.
In this workshop we embark on a journey into the past, trying to understand the nature of the ink stroke produced by nib instruments. We'll start with the precise and familiar lines of the metal nib, then move on to the density and delicate tones of the cane nib, and the expressive stroke of the trimmed tip of a bird's feather.
Degree in Sound and Image - Light and Sound: Fundamentals of Cinema
Description: Light and sound are one of the most important elements in filmmaking. Through a small simulation, it will be demonstrated how to achieve what is seen and heard in a cinema.
Cinema Degree - Introduction to film practice - AIP / Estúdio MOCAP
