Recognition

The Fly/Vuela Programme at the Universidade Católica won 1st prize in the ‘Training’ category, awarded by the Higher Education Volunteering Network and the Santander Foundation. This international volunteering programme, coordinated at UCP by the Porto Regional Centre, is intercultural, interdisciplinary, intensive and inter-university, and involves the participation of 7 universities.

The ‘És Capaz’ Project, promoted by the Social Responsibility Office at the Head Office, and the CaSo - Católica Solidária volunteering group at the Porto Regional Centre, received an honourable mention, for the merit of their volunteering activities.

The continuous efforts of the Portuguese Catholic University in Porto to promote good practices in waste prevention and recycling were recognised by LIPOR, the Association of Municipalities for Sustainable Waste Management in Greater Porto, which distinguished it as one of the institutions where the ‘Green Heart’ is visible.

CAtólica SOlidária (CASO), the Universidade Católica's volunteer centre on the Porto Campus, received an Honourable Mention in the youth category as part of the ‘Troféu Português de Voluntariado 2022’, awarded by the Confederação Portuguesa de Voluntariado.

The Honourable Mention recognises the work of all the volunteers who, over CASO's 20 years, have contributed to building a better world. Carmo Themudo also adds that ‘this award is an incentive and a stimulus for us to continue serving society'.

The Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) has been awarded the Academia Voluntária Quality Seal by CASES - Cooperativa António Sérgio para a Economia Social for the work carried out by CASO - CAtólica SOlidária, at the Porto Regional Centre, which already has 20 years' experience in the area of university volunteering.

The jury of the initiative, which unanimously approved the university's application, recognises that ‘the practices, dynamics and instruments created and developed by UCP to promote volunteering are worthy of distinction’.

In the 1st edition of The Newman Benchmark Framework on Social Responsibility, organised by the International Federation of Catholic Universities (FIUC), UCP was awarded 4 seals, with the highlight being the fact that it obtained 2 seals with the maximum classification (3 stars) in the areas of governance and social practices.

As part of the Uniservitate Award 2022, the Universidade Católica Portuguesa received an honourable mention for the project ‘Capacitar para Proteger’, run by the Lisbon Institute of Health Sciences. The project is part of the CApS project: Universidade Católica and Service-Learning: Innovation and Social Responsibility, which began in January 2020, involving the university's four campuses.
