"This victory is also ours": students highlight the pride of belonging to Católica
Universidade Católica Portuguesa has once again been recognised as the best university in Portugal, for the 4th consecutive year, in THE World University Rankings. For Católica students, this is a success they share with their colleagues and professors.
"This victory is also ours", says Marta Gomes, 2nd year student of the Degree in Communication Sciences. "Attending a university that is renowned worldwide is a privilege that fortunately I have, and I couldn't be happier with my decision," she shares enthusiastically.
Pride is the common feeling among Católica students in reaction to this international distinction. "Pride in being part of this community", as Marta explains, and "pride in belonging to a university with international prestige", says Diogo Martins. In the second year of one of the Católica's most recent and innovative courses, the Undergraduate Program in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, Diogo has no doubts that he made the right choice: "I feel that both my parents and I are making a good investment in myself and in my future".
A promising future is what they hope to achieve with their academic commitment, but also with the support of all those who contribute daily to the success of the University. "It is a joint effort made on the four Campi by the entire community, particularly the faculty members who help us to be continuously better," says Marta.
For the student of the Double Degree in Law and Management, Paulo Romano Martinez, the recognition of Católica, both internationally and by companies, "facilitates entry into the labour market". An opinion shared by Diogo, a student at the Faculty of Human Sciences in Lisbon, who does not hesitate to say: "attending a degree at a university with quality teaching, with good rates of scientific production, with access to world knowledge networks, with international prestige, and with influence on the socio-economic development of the country, guarantees increased employability conditions."
But if for students academic excellence and employability are important, the relationships they build during their degree are equally remarkable and special. Paulo fondly highlights the friendships that Católica has provided him with, reinforced with moments of spirituality, volunteering, but also at the course parties and dinners. "These moments helped cement my values and allowed me to realise how fun this challenge of being a university student can be."
