The session will feature interventions from Prof. Amy Jill Levine (Rabbi Stanley M. José Tolentino Mendonça (Archivist of the Vatican Apostolic Archives and Librarian of the Vatican Apostolic Library at the Roman Curia).

According to Luísa Almendra, "this Chair is distinguished by its absolutely innovative character in the scientific and inter-religious dialogue between the two traditions - Jewish and Christian - still very much unknown in Portugal and in many sectors at an international level".

"I believe that the proposal of a joint academic reading of the biblical texts common to Christianity and Judaism will stimulate innovative thinking and cutting-edge research, which will enrich both academia and society", says Luísa Almendra, adding that "this Chair fulfils the desire for rapprochement and dialogue between the two religions that have guided the thought and life of the West for more than two millennia", as it is clearly expressed in the documents issued by both Judaism and Christianity.

The presentation of the new Chair can also be watched live on the Faculty of Theology's Facebook page.
