Universidade Católica hosts Exhibition "De qué casa eres?"
"¿De qué casa eres? Los niños de Rusia. Episodios de un cotidiano #4" is the name of the new exhibition that will be inaugurated by the Universidade Católica at the Fundação Amélia de Mello Gallery, at its headquarters in Lisbon, on 18 April, at 6pm.
With works by Ana Pérez-Quiroga, the exhibition tells the story of her mother: "Ângela Petra, one of the 2,895 refugee children, Niños de Rusia, who during the Spanish Civil War, were sent to the Soviet Union ", according to Luísa Santos, curator.
Luísa Santos explains how "due to the political differences between Franco's regime and post-Stalinist Russia, the children who had been taken in by Russia, could not return to their country of origin at the end of the Civil War."
The curator also adds that "the autobiographical project, which the artist began in 2016, and to which she is systematically adding new readings is presented here in its fourth part - or, in Ana Pérez-Quiroga’s words, its fourth episode"
The President of the Universidade Católica, Isabel Capeloa Gil, will be present at the opening ceremony of "¿De qué casa eres?", open to the entire academic community.
The exhibition is part of the Cultura@Católica programme, and counts with the support of the Amélia de Mello Foundation, Innovarisk, Caixa Geral de Depósitos, Jopinto, Research Centre for Communication and Culture and the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia.
