UCP and East Timor sign agreement to strengthen the Timorese justice sector
The agreement, signed by Isabel Capeloa Gil, President of UCP, and Gastão Francisco de Sousa, Minister of Planning and Strategic Investment (MPIE) of East Timor, aims to create and implement a scholarship programme to train Timorese human resources in the justice sector.
The main objective of this scholarship programme, granted by a Timorese Human Capital Development Fund, is to provide students from East Timor with the opportunity to attend the Law course at UCP. Through this programme, students will be equipped with in-depth legal knowledge and essential skills to contribute significantly to the development and strengthening of the justice system in East Timor.
The signing of this protocol, which will be in force for a period of 5 years, represents an important milestone in the co-operation between UCP and the East Timorese government, highlighting the commitment of both parties to invest in the training of highly qualified staff, which will result in the training of future East Timorese lawyers.
This agreement is a clear example of UCP's commitment to fostering excellent education and training, not only at national level, but also internationally, contributing to the sustainable development of societies in different parts of the world. The collaboration with East Timor reinforces UCP's mission to promote justice, solidarity and the common good through education.
