“Serpentina” by the painter Adriana Molder on exhibition at the School of Arts

The new exhibition "Serpentina" seeks to evoke Anselmo's serpent-muse, a living line, capable of being any form and of causing fright," says Adriana Molder. In addition to the 9 drawings, the exhibition consists of a film that goes along with the engravings by Israhel van Meckenem and Master E. S. A, unique figures of the European Gothic period.

According to Adriana Molder, "Serpentine is also a film, a Stop Motion fantasy with a particular love for silent films in which the drawings and my figure meet and get lost in an unusual way. At the crossroads from which these drawings emerge - the engravings by Israhel van Meckenem, by Master E. S., but also the representation of the cosmos by Hildegard von Bingen or the figure of Salome by Lucas Cranach - the moving image and also that mystery that is music now enter: Matteo da Perugia, Conan Osiris and the joy of whistling".

Nuno Crespo, exhibition curator and director of the School of Arts of the Universidade Católica, points out "the School of Arts is also an Art Centre where we organise countless moments of culture in the city and the four exhibitions we hold every year are a reflection of that". Nuno Crespo also refers "receiving this exhibition in particular is a great privilege. Adriana Molder is an award-winning Portuguese painter who has pieces, for example, in the António Cachola Collection, in the EDP Foundation, in the Fundació Sorigue, or in the Kupferstichkabinett - Staatliche Museen zu Berlin".

The opening of the exhibition "Serpentina" by Adriana Molder, curated by Nuno Crespo, is scheduled for 13 April at 6.30pm, and will be open until 23 June in the Exhibition Hall of the School of Arts of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

It has free admission and can be seen from Monday to Friday, from 2pm to 7pm.
