President of the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region Coordination Commission visits Católica University
Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) received the visit of the President of the Coordination Commission of the Region of Lisbon and Tagus Valley (CCDR-LVT), Maria Teresa Mourão de Almeida, on 18 October, at its headquarters in Lisbon.
The President of CCDR-LVT was received by the President of UCP, Isabel Capeloa Gil, in a meeting where the work that the University has been developing in several areas with a strong impact in the Region was presented. The meeting highlighted the close connection between the UCP and the Region of Lisbon and Tagus Valley. It is in this region where the Palma de Cima campus is located, which includes the headquarters of the University and many of its major faculties and institutes, and the Sintra campus, where the Medical School is located.
In the meeting between the President of UCP and the President of CCDR-LVT, which served to show how the work developed at UCP has contributed to regional development, Vice-Rector Margarida Mano was also present, who presented the Strategic Development Plan for 2021-2025. The lines of contribution presented included university social responsibility and its impact on the community and nearby territories; the global positioning of the Region through the internationalisation of the University; and the strategic intervention in areas of academic excellence of the UCP, such as health or the creative industries, with valid contributions in the Region's institutions.
"A global implantation without losing the local roots is one of UCP's mottos since its foundation. In this sense, the connection to the Regions where UCP is implanted is critical and has been an important component of the University's performance in all its campi", refers Margarida Mano.
The Vice-Rector also adds that "the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region and its Coordination and Development Commission are therefore natural and fundamental partners in the global affirmation of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, with the UCP aspiring to be an important engine of regional development".
During this meeting, the activities that have been developed at the UCP in Lisbon were also presented, in the area of sustainability of companies, people and territories, respectively by the Center for Responsible Business & Leadership, by PROSPER (Center of Economics for Prosperity), both from the Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics and by CESOP Local, Centre of Studies and Opinion Polls.
