Presentation of the Project "Campus Veritati" of UCP

On November 28th the project of the Campus Veritati of Universidade Católica Portuguesa was presented, a project authored by the architect João Luís Carrilho da Graça. The Campus Veritati, composed by two buildings, will be located in the northern part of the current UCP Campus in Lisbon and will host new Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics facilities and a Multifunctional Conference Centre, a central space that promotes the connection between UCP and the Community. The latter, highly technological, includes an Innovation Centre – E-Lab and an auditorium that can be characterized as state of the art, with capacity for 700 people.

This project was selected in a competition process, to which a group of renowned Portuguese architects were invited. The final choice was made by a jury, with internal and external elements to the University, who appreciated three projects of exceptional quality, selected for the final phase of this process. Among the external elements of UCP were personalities linked to culture, engineering and architecture, as is the case of the Spanish architect Antonio Ortiz García.

Isabel Capeloa Gil, Rector of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, explains that “…the choice was difficult, with the architect Carrilho da Graça’s project having been chosen for its great sobriety and simplicity, but also for its great avant-garde character, embodying the values of Universidade Católica Portuguesa itself”.

This presentation, which was attended by personalities from different backgrounds of the Portuguese society, included interventions by the Rector of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, by Filipe Santos, Dean of Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics and by the architect Carrilho da Graça.

The construction of Campus Veritati is scheduled to start in 2021.

The project of Campus Veritati by the architect Carrilho da Graça, as well as the projects that  came in 2nd and 3rd place in the competition, are on display at Galeria Fundação Amélia de Melo.
