Porto Regional Centre: 2021/22 graduating students receive the blessing of their diplomas

October 21, 2022 was an important date for hundreds of final-year students, families and teachers who filled the Ilídio Pinho Auditorium of the Porto Regional Cente of the Universidade Católica. The ceremony of delivery and blessing of graduation diplomas of the academic year 21/22 will be recorded in the memory of those who made Universidade Católica their second home.

The academic anthem was played to start the ceremony, which was brightened by the enthusiasm and expectation of those who were heading to a new stage of their lives. "Today is a special day of great joy for our house", said the Pro-Rector of UCP, Isabel Braga da Cruz, during her speech at the ceremony, congratulating the new graduates on their journey.

Isabel Capeloa Gil, President of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, explained that the new graduates "are trained for the country and the world" and advised that in the stage ahead, "be rigorous in professional practice and be truthful. The time of change demands ethically responsible voices."

During the ceremony, the moment of delivery of merit awards of the faculties and partner institutions also took place: the Caixa Geral de Depósitos Awards (Escola Superior de Biotecnologia, Faculdade de Educação e Psicologia, Instituto de Ciências da Saúde - Porto), the José Luís Novaes Award, the Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Porto Scholarship, the D. Júlio Tavares Rebimbas Scholarship, the Amélia de Mello Foundation Award, the S. Francisco de Assis Award. It was also delivered the Francisco Carvalho Guerra Merit Award, attributed by Oporto Law School to the student with the best final average in the Law degree, and the Merit Award of the School of Biotechnology, attributed by the faculty to three students with the best final average in the degree. The teams from the School of Biotechnology, MealBalls and notEggo, received during the ceremony the Comendador Arménio Miranda Mentorship Programme Award.

The ceremony also included speeches by Ana Paula Pinheira and Rui Cabral, students representing the 2020/21 graduates, and the presence of the directors and lecturers of the faculties - Católica Porto Business School, School of ArtsFaculty of Biotechnology, Faculty of Law-Porto School, Faculty of Education and Psycology, Faculty of Theology, Institute of Health Sciences (Porto).

The more than 500 students who finished their degree at the Porto Regional Centre of the UCP have now become alumni of the University.
