Pope names President of Universidade Católica as consultant to Dicastery for Culture and Education

Pope Francis has appointed Isabel Capeloa Gil, President of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa as consultant to the Dicastery for Culture and Education.

The nomination of the President of Católica and the International Federation of Catholic Universities (FIUC) was announced by the Holy See Press Office on 18 February.

According to the President, "it is a privilege to be able to serve the Holy See in its mission of empowering and enlightening humanity through education and culture."

Isabel Capeloa Gil was already consultant of the Congregation for Catholic Education, which, with the reform of the Curia, gave rise to a new organism, the Dicastery for Culture and Education.

The President of Universidade Católica will now collaborate with the Portuguese Cardinal D. José Tolentino Mendonça, former vice-rector of the University and prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education.

The organism was born with the publication of the apostolic constitution "Praedicate Evangelium" on March 19, 2022, and assumes the missions previously entrusted to the Congregation for Catholic Education and the Pontifical Council for Culture.
