Neuroscience Open Day
The Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing of Universidade Católica Portuguesa welcomed around 50 high school students for a Neuroscience Open Day aimed at introducing prospective students to the degree programme, in association with Católica Medical School, and the world of neuroscience research.
The event provided participants with the opportunity to explore the programme's academic structure, learn about career opportunities, and engage in practical activities related to brain science and research.
The session was presented by the programme coordinators, Filipa Ribeiro and João Pereira, who introduced students to the curriculum and the degree's interdisciplinary nature.
The programme also featured a lecture by Luísa Lopes, Research Coordinator at the GIMM – Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine, who shared insights into current neuroscience research in ageing.
While parents had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about academic pathways and future career prospects, candidates took part in a class while observing a practical EEG session.
The Open Day offered a dynamic and engaging introduction to the field of Neuroscience, inspiring future students to explore one of today’s most innovative scientific areas.
