The Spirit in Health group at CIIS, coordinated by Sílvia Caldeira, is launching REDES (Network for the Teaching and Development of Spirituality in Health), a core project under the responsibility of Ana Afonso and Sara Sitefane.
The Spirit in Health project's mission is to be a national and international reference project, which creates knowledge in the area of spirituality in health and nursing, with a view to scientific consolidation, and which acts actively in the implementation of educational and professional responses as a guarantee of the training of health professionals for spiritual care, in collaboration with teaching, health care, health research, health policy and professional representation organizations, in order to preserve integrality, minimize suffering and guarantee the dignity of the human person.
REDES has the following objectives: to constitute a national structure of health-related higher education institutions for spiritual health care competences; to contribute to the definition of spiritual health care competences, recognized by educational institutions and professional representation; to collaborate in research related to the development of educational strategies and theorizing on spiritual health care.
