Fr. Júlio Fragata Library hosts “Between Obsession and Exorcism: Eça de Queirós and the Phantom of the Feminine”
The Fr. Júlio Fragata Library, under the program Biblioteca ComVida, will host the next gathering of the open study group in Psychology and Humanities, "Alienista".
In 2025, marking one hundred and eighty years since the birth of Eça de Queirós and one hundred and fifty years since the publication of his first novel, a session is proposed to revisit the author and his literary work, entitled “Between Obsession and Exorcism: Eça de Queirós and the Phantom of the Feminine”.
In this context, a debate gathering has been conceived to discuss the implications of the novelist’s family experience in his obsessive focus on certain themes, namely the representation of the feminine and of women, particularly in their role as mothers.
The session will feature Professors Fabrizia Raguso and José Cândido de Oliveira Martins, both from the Faculdade de Filosofia e Ciências Sociais.
Attendance is free and open to both the academic community and the general public, promoting inclusive participation in art and culture. Register here and request your participation certificate.
