FFCS Library organises session on "Philosophy in the Feminine: Voices of the 20th Century"

On July 6th, at 3:00 pm, the Biblioteca ComVida will take place at the Library of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences, in the Praça da Faculdade building, with the session "Philosophy in the Feminine: Voices of the 20th Century".

The association of Philosophy with the masculine world presents a well-marked and explicit emphasis. However, women are also integrated into philosophical studies, even if their visibility, nowadays, is still reduced. Far from defending feminist perspectives or trends, is urgent to give greater prominence to female thinking in the scope of Philosophy, not only because of the advantages that it may present in terms of difference and heterogeneity, but also because of the contribution established over the years, that it is necessary to know. It is intended, therefore, to give voice to some of these women, with particular emphasis to Simone Weil and Simone de Beauvoir, who, although on a different outline of each individual thought, made significant contributions to the 20th century and to contemporary days.

Organization: Analisa Candeias e Rosa Ferreira, Philosophy students.
