Faculdade de Educação e Psicologia launches new Postgraduate Program in Neuropsychology
The Faculdade de Educação e Psicologia of the Porto Regional Centre launched new Postgraduate Program in Neuropsychology. A postgraduate course that aims to offer the opportunity to develop a broad scientific knowledge in the area of Neuropsychology while developing academic and clinical skills.
Neuropsychology has assumed itself as essential knowledge for psychologists and continues to be one of the most popular and fastest growing fields in psychological practice. At the same time, this area of study has also benefited from major developments in recent decades, driven mainly by advances in research and in-depth knowledge of the brain and human behavior.
Patrícia Oliveira-Silva, scientific and pedagogical coordinator of this post-graduation course, states that this "arose from the teaching and supervision experience of the teachers involved, at master's, doctoral and other advanced training levels in this area" and adds that "the team of professionals involved in the post-graduation course is committed to fostering neuropsychological diagnosis skills and familiarizing participants with the most advanced techniques in this area; offer advanced training in the application of neuropsychological instruments, in assessment procedures, cognitive rehabilitation and the neuropsychological rehabilitation; and in the analysis, interpretation and preparation of reports”. The coordinator also highlights that this new training offer will "allow all modules to be supported in a continuous manner by the most recent scientific research in the area of Neuropsychology, with a clear effort to comprehensively synthesize the most recent scientific findings in this area."
The post-graduation course has as teachers Carla Pais-Vieira, from the Institute of Health Sciences in Porto, Diana Pereira, from the Faculty of Education and Psychology, Rosana Magalhães, from the Academic Clinical Center | 2CA – Braga Hospital, Amable Muñoz, from the Universidad de Madrid, and Miguel Pais-Vieira, from the Department of Medical Sciences from the University of Aveiro.
Patrícia Oliveira-Silva also explains "about 80% of the teachers involved have extensive experience in clinical practice in Neuropsychology, while the other 20% have a significant record in Neuropsychology research".
The graduate course will run from December 2021 to October 2022 and is planned to have 280 classroom hours and 850 hours of individual study, a total of 1130 hours. Applications are open until November 19th.
