Dream BIG: Welcome to Católica
At Católica, there’s room for every dream. From 31 August to 22 October, the University’s 19 faculties are organising activities to welcome students starting their university studies in 2026–27 in Lisbon, Porto, Braga, Viseu and Sintra.
Amidst sunsets, orientation activities, volunteering, challenges and games, the new students will get to know the University’s facilities, be introduced to the degree programmes, and, most importantly, make friendships that will last a lifetime.
The activities begin on 31 August with Católica Lisbon SBE’s Welcome Day, which continues the following day with volunteering, and culminates on 4 September with the now iconic sunset party on the Carmo rooftop.
At the same time, from 1 to 3 September, Empower Week will take place for new students at Católica Porto Business School, featuring team-building and networking sessions, as well as the Eco Peddy Paper.
Also on 3 September, the Pro-Rector of Católica, Isabel Braga da Cruz, will welcome all new undergraduates from all faculties of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto.
In Lisbon, from 3 to 4 September, the Faculty of Human Sciences will welcome new students with the volunteering initiative “O Outro em Nós 2026”, in partnership with the “Cleaner Beaches with...” project, part of the Blue Flag programme.
At the same time, future nurses at the Lisbon School will enjoy a performance by Paulituna and a visit to the Simulation Centre at Hospital da Luz.
On 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9 September, it will be the turn of the freshers at the Faculty of Biotechnology, with highlights including the Welcome Snack in the garden and a sporting activity.
The first steps in Psychology will be taken on 7 and 8 September, with the introduction of the tutorials and the ‘Connections that Matter’ session. At the School of Arts, from 8 to 11 September, students are welcomed with ice-breaking games, a social lunch with a DJ, a lounge and a photo booth, as well as a visit to Serralves.
On 9 and 10 September, all freshers at the Porto Campus are invited to take part in the volunteering activity ‘Acolher, Pintar, Transformar’ (Welcome, Paint, Transform), where they will help paint the premises of the Associação Norte Vida.
New students at the Institute for Political Studies get off to a flying start on 7 September with the Garden Party, and on 10 September, they take part in a volunteering initiative with Cáritas at the Dona Ajuda Social Shop.
At the Católica Medical School, the welcome programme also begins with volunteering during the Welcome Weekend, from 11 to 13 September. The following day, the induction programme begins at Católica’s campi in Viseu and Braga, including welcome sessions and social events.
The welcome programme concludes on 22 October with the national session for students of the Faculty of Theology.
