A day in the life of a future nurse at Católica
"Hello! My name is Daniela Do Vale, I’m 21 years old and I’m in my third year of Nursing at Católica. I chose this school because we have clinical placements from the very first year (it’s not just theory) and when I took part in the open day and summer school, I realised straight away that this was where I wanted to be.
I’m currently doing a nursing clinical internship and my day-to-day routine is basically this: I get up early on days I’m on the morning shift to catch transport to my clinical placement. There, I’m always with a nurse who guides me and teaches me new things, from procedures to how to deal with people.
Honestly, I learn so much on every shift.
But it’s not all work! When I finish my shifts, I head to the gym – it’s my place. Then there’s Paulituna, my beloved student music group, and I go to rehearsals whenever I can. And when I have time, I go out with friends. A coffee, studying, just being with people I like.
This balance between clinical placements, the gym, the student band and friends is what keeps me sane. Every day I spend on clinical placements, I’m becoming a better nurse, but I also realise it’s important to look after myself. This is what studying, training, playing music and being with the people I love is all about. Life as a nursing student at Católica."
