‘Collaboration and exchange’ in focus at the Service-Learning workshop
Universidade Católica Portuguesa hosted the first Transform4Europe (T4EU) Service-Learning workshop on October 29 and 30 at the Porto Regional Centre, in a hybrid format.
The workshop attracted 46 participants from four T4EU partner universities - the University of Primorska (Slovenia), the University of Sofia ‘St. Kliment Ohridski’ (Bulgaria), the University of Trieste (Italy) and the University of Vytautas Magnus (Lithuania) - as well as UCP and another Portuguese university.
The event introduced the concept of service-learning, quality criteria, and implementation steps. It featured inspiring testimonies from professors and students at UCP and the University of Alicante who implement service-learning, and it had the participation of CLAYSS, the Latin American Center for Service-Learning, and European partners from the T4EU alliance.
"The workshop strengthened collaboration and the exchange of good practices between universities", explained one of the event's organizers.
Service-learning combines educational goals with community service, providing a pragmatic, progressive learning experience while meeting societal needs.
