CIEP researcher is re-elected to the UN Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf

Last June, 15th, Aldino Campos, integrated researcher of the Research Centre of the Institute for Political Studies, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, was elected for his second mandate as member of the United Nations Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf.

The researcher joins again the Commission composed by 21 international experts, responsible for analysing the proposals of States that intend to extend their continental platform, in accordance with the United Nations Convention.

As pointed out in a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: "The re-election of Aldino Campos reflects the recognition of his professional qualities, as well as the international prominence of Portugal regarding the capacity of study and intervention in the deep sea and the commitment that the country assumes with the governance of the Oceans, a few days before the II Conference of Oceans of the United Nations takes place in Lisbon".
