Católica joins the 5th edition of the Summer School of the European Federation of Catholic Universities
This year, the European Federation of Catholic Universities (FUCE) is organising the 5th edition of the Summer School under the theme ‘European Humanism in the Making,’ and the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) is once again attending.
For the 3rd consecutive year, Peter Hanenberg, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at UCP, will moderate the debate ‘MYEurope’ on 3 July, from 7pm to 8.30pm. "Bringing in perspectives from very different angles and backgrounds, the panel joins young students from all over the continent who will present and discuss their view on Europe in the making."
Hugo Martinho Chaves, a student of Communication Sciences at the Faculty of Human Sciences, and Sara Napoleão, a student of Political Science and International Relations at UCP's Institute for Political Studies, will represent the Universidade Católica in this debate.
In addition to moderating the debate, Vice-Rector Peter Hanenberg is responsible for the module on Literature and the Arts, as he is one of the five coordinators of the summer school.
The Summer School's opening session will be given by Thierry Magnin, former president of the federation and Rector for Humanities at the Université Catholique de Lille, the institution hosting this summer school. Under the theme ‘AI Remaking Humanism?’ the lecture aims to point out the changes in mentalities and job practice caused by Artificial Intelligence, and to debate ‘how to be free when working and living with intelligent machines and to serve the common good in society’, distinguishing between human and artificial intelligence.
Created in 1991, FUCE is the European regional association of the International Federation of Catholic Universities, of which the President of UCP, Isabel Capeloa Gil, is the curent leader.
