Católica celebrates National Day of Portuguese Sign Language

On the day that marks the National Day of Portuguese Sign Language (LGP), we challenge everyone to learn five essential words in LGP, with the student Helena Carmo, from the Institute of Health Sciences.

Celebrated annually on November 15th, the date commemorates the recognition of LGP by the Constitution of the Republic, in 1997, as the language of the Portuguese deaf community. On this day in 1995, the Commission for the recognition and protection of Portuguese Sign Language and the defence of deaf people's rights was also created.
