Capacitar para Salvar workshop attracts more than 50 Projecto VIDA participants
On May 14 and June 28, 53 technicians and volunteers from Projecto VIDA partner organisations took part in a workshop organised by Capacitar para Salvar, a University Extension project run by the Nursing Centre of the Católica School of Nursing (Lisbon).
The seven social organisations Aproximar Oeiras, Refood Benfica, Crescer, Cáritas Diocesana de Lisboa, Ajuda de Mãe, ARAL, Associação de Amigos do Hospital de Santa Maria, Associação Santa Teresa and Serve The City were represented at the event.
António Borges, professor at the Lisbon School of Nursing and coordinator of the Capacitar para Salvar project, emphasises the importance of the project, which "sought throughout the school year to bring new skills in Basic Life Support to the school and social support communities".
"We will continue to be close and believe that in the difference we can build foundations for a society that is better able and prepared to respond effectively to situations of cardiac arrest", said António Borges in an assessment of the importance of these initiatives "particularly in vulnerable social contexts", with the collaboration of the UCP's Social Responsibility Office.
Over the course of 2023/2024, five workshops were held as part of this project, impacting 83 users, technicians and volunteers from the Projecto VIDA's partner social organisations.
