Braga Regional Centre puts Education at the service of the Common Good
The Main Hall of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) - Braga Regional Centre (CRB) opened its doors, this Saturday, 15 October, to receive the graduates and their families, in a Session of Delivery of Diplomas to Graduates and Masters 2021/2022.
"A diploma is a passport that opens doors at the professional level and opens the possibility of personal fulfilment. It does not restrict the freedom of choice [of a professional career] in another area, because the UCP provides a comprehensive training that gives students the tools that allow them to exercise a profession in various areas of economic activity," said Isabel Vasconcelos, Vice-Rector of the UCP. She also highlighted the work developed by Católica Braga, oriented "to the training of competent professionals, but also capable of acting for the common good".
João Manuel Duque, Pro-Rector of UCP and President of the CRB, pointed out that the objective of UCP Braga "lies in training new generations for a future that may be more humanized and more responsible for the world we live in".
D. Nuno Almeida, Auxiliary Bishop of Braga, considers "it healthy that the Catholic Church always seeks to go further. We must dream and strive for more and better, cultivating the capacity to dare and innovate" and added that "education is one of the most effective ways of humanising the world. To educate is not to fill jars, but rather to light a fire. The Catholic keeps this fire, which she transmits, because the only way to light it is through personal and community witness. Before transmitting knowledge, we must light the fire that represents who we are", he emphasized, noting that "this contact happens because we are side by side".
