"From borders to Classroms," Católica marks International Women's Day with refugee students

Alina Didenko came from Ukraine, Arina Zheludova from Russia, Mahdiya Erfani from Afghanistan and Mahoor Kaffashian is Iranian. They all have in common the fact that they came from conflict zones and now they are studying at the Universidade Católica, thanks to the Initiative of Support to Refugee Students and Researchers, promoted by Universidade Católica.

In the public session, "From borders to classrooms", organized to mark the International Women's Day, the four students from the four campi of Católica will share their experience. In this conference they will talk about how they arrived in Portugal, what they feel as "refugees", how they deal with stereotypes, and the importance that education has in their lives.

Ouwais Sadeq, a student at Católica, also a refugee, of Syrian origin, will be responsible for moderating the conversation.

The debate "From borders to classrooms", part of the Support Initiative for Refugee Students and Researchers promoted by Católica, will take place on March 8, at 2 pm, at the Exposition Room, at the headquarters of the University, in Lisbon.

This conference is organized by Inês Espada Vieira, professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences at Católica and responsible for the Support for Refugee Students and Researchers Initiative.

The session is open to the academic community and there will be room for questions and answers.
