“AcontecEnfermagem”: UCP’s new podcast launches on Nurses’ Day
As part of the celebrations for Nurses’ Day, the School of Nursing (Lisbon) at Universidade Católica Portuguesa is launching the podcast ‘AcontecEnfermagem’, a new forum for reflection dedicated to nursing as both a science and a profession.
This first episode marks the start of a series of conversations intended to be relevant, critical and transformative, bringing together different perspectives on the current challenges and the future of nursing.
For this debut episode, we have brought together three voices representing different aspects of nursing:
- Amélia Simões Figueiredo, Head of the School of Nursing (Lisbon) at Universidade Católica Portuguesa;
- Dora Franco, Chair of the Regional Executive Board of the Southern Regional Branch of the Order of Nurses;
- Bianca Esteves, a final-year student on the Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
Ricardo Braga led the discussion by addressing a set of key questions designed to explore nursing today, its social representation and the impact of nursing interventions on the health of those receiving care, as well as the challenges facing the discipline and profession over the coming decade.
With this podcast, the UCP School of Nursing (Lisbon) aims to create an ongoing space for dialogue, giving a voice to different key figures and promoting in-depth reflection on contemporary nursing.
On this Nurses’ Day, the launch of AcontecEnfermagem also serves as a way of recognising all the professionals who contribute daily to the development and affirmation of nursing.
