ACEGE: "70 years of hard work"

ACEGE "represented the pioneer Catholicism in the shift towards a new business leadership", it was with these words that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of the Portuguese Republic, marked the opening of the 70th anniversary congress of ACEGE - Christian Association of Businessmen and Managers, on 6 May, at the headquarters of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

The President also stressed that "70 years later, the fight continues", asking "today more dignity for people, more growth, with more employment and less poverty, more innovation and less inequality, more knowledge and less ignorance, more place for the young among us and less against, subjective or objective to their departure, more inclusion of those who come to us and less forgetfulness of our departed, and far away cultivate loyalty to their roots, deep down, with other nuances, it is always the same personalist fight, that is, humanist with God".

The Rector of UCP, Isabel Capeloa Gil, expressed her hopes for the success of the two days of reflection, wishing that "they will be particularly fruitful in the sense of effectively sharing solutions that contribute to an economy made for the people and not in spite of the people, ambitiously orienting itself towards the growth of the country."

This event was attended by several personalities, including D. Manuel Clemente, High Chancellor of UCP, D. José Ornelas, President of the Portuguese Episcopal Conference, and João Pedro Tavares, President of ACEGE.
