Universidade Católica Portuguesa students have access to various International Mobility Programmes.
Erasmus+
The Erasmus + Programme is a European Union Programme for Education, Training, Youth, and Sport in effect from 2021 to 2027.
The Erasmus Programme enables the mobility of students wishing to undertake a period of studies at another institution with which there is an Erasmus + Bilateral Agreement. The mobility may be of a one-semester duration up to a maximum twelve-month period.
Erasmus+ also provides higher education students with the opportunity to undertake a curricular, extracurricular, or recent-graduate internship, from two to twelve months, within a working context (SMP mobility). This programme includes specific grants for internships.
Guidelines for signing Erasmus+ Mobility Agreements (Certified Digital Signature)
UCP is deeply committed to the Erasmus+ Programme goals, among which, its concern for the environment and the digitalization. Hence, the University will now accept Certified Digital Signatures for the Erasmus+ Mobility Agreements signed between UCP and the participants.
The Certified Digital Signature provided by the Portuguese state holds the same legal value that a handwritten signature, it is safe, authenticated and holds digital certificates that guarantee ones identity.
Throughout the transition period (2022 civil year), the participants will be given the option to sign digitally or manually.
UCP encourages its students to request their Certified Digital Signature through the website, so that they may sign digitally, from anywhere.
FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
1. Which types of signature are accepted?
For the signature of Erasmus+ Mobility Agreement, 'simple' electronic signature, advanced electronic signature and qualified electronic signature are accepted. Handwritten signatures (on 2 originals) can also be accepted, however, electronic signatures are encouraged in order to limit the use of paper.
2. Which types of signature are not accepted?
Digitalized signatures, photocopies, digitalization or any other type of signature or its copy which are not in agreement with point 1 will not be accepted as valid signatures for the Erasmus+ Mobility Agreement.
3. If I sign manually, may I request UCP to sign digitally?
No. When one of the parties signs manually, the other party must use the same method. Meaning that whenever one of the parties opts for one type of signature, that shall be the only valid method of signature for that agreement.
4. May I request for someone else to sign for me?
No. With the possibility of the Certified Digital Signature, which can be used anywhere, safely and authenticated, there is no reason for someone else to sign for the student.
5. How may I obtain my Certified Digital Signature?
The Certified Digital Signature may be obtained through your Citizen’s Card or through the authentication data to the Portuguese Portal das Finanças. In the first case it is necessary to buy a card reader to authenticate. Hence, UCP advises its students to opt to authenticate through the login data used to enter the Portuguese Portal das Finanças.
With that data you may request the activation of your Digital Mobile Key (Chave Móvel Digital) at the following website: https://www.autenticacao.gov.pt/. After activating the Digital Mobile Key (Chave Móvel Digital), you may request the Certified Digital Signature.
6. I am a foreign citizen. May I request a Certified Digital Signature?
Yes. To request a Certified Digital Signature you need to have a fiscal number (NIF) to activate your Digital Mobile Key (Chave Móvel Digital) with your Card or Residency Title. Should you activate your Digital Mobile Key (Chave Móvel Digital) with your passport, we advise that you associate your fiscal number (NIF) as well.

Almeida Garrett Programme
The Almeida Garrett Programme is a national mobility Programme for higher education students that seeks to enhance the quality and strengthen the national scope of the Portuguese university education system. The Programme provides the means for undertaking a period of studies with full subsequent academic recognition at one of the higher education institutions represented on the CRUP - Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities. UCP students interested in taking part in the Almeida Garrett Programme should contact the International Office of their School or Regional Centre.
Students from partner universities wishing to undertake a mobility period at UCP should contact the International Office of their School to formalize their application, in accordance with the requirements set out in the Regulations and considering the following application deadlines:
1st Semester: 30th April
2nd Semester: 31st October

Free Mobility
Mobility without any financing taking place under the auspices of cooperation agreements in which students pay fees at their university of origin. Academic recognition is guaranteed before departure through the drafting of learning agreements. Within the framework of such agreements, there is no scope for the concession of study grants.
