Welcome Session for New Master’s Students of Faculty of Biotechnology

The Faculty of Biotechnology welcomes all new master’s students and invites them to attend the welcome session, which marks the beginning of their academic journey at the school. The session will provide useful information for the start of the semester, including class schedules, digital platforms, research opportunities, and programmes such as Professional Mentoring.

It will also be a chance to meet the ESB community and clarify any questions. We would like to highlight the monthly Biotalks, organised by the school’s research centre, CBQF (Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry). These are seminars where in-house and guest researchers present their work. All master’s students are encouraged to attend whenever possible. Students are also welcome to join the Researchers’ Club (www.esb.ucp.pt/clubedosinvestigadores) and become part of a CBQF research team, collaborating on an ongoing project right from the beginning of the programme.

This is a great way to pave the path toward the thesis. The Professional Mentoring programme is another opportunity available, promoting personal and career development with the support of a mentor — often an ESB alumnus — with significant experience in the professional world. It is a resource not to be missed. These and other initiatives will be introduced during the welcome session and in the first weeks of classes. Additionally, all opportunities that arise will be shared via your institutional email, so please check it regularly.

The session will take place in the Comendador Arménio Miranda Auditorium, located in the EBI building (no. 9 on the campus map), and is a great opportunity to start building your connection to the school.
