Auditório Cardeal D. António Ribeiro A3 (Edifício antigo) | UCP | Lisboa - Sede

On 11 March, the Universidade Católica Portuguesa is hosting a special event to celebrate the life and legacy of Manuel Sérgio, Portugal's most influential sports philosopher. The philosopher who never gave up thinking about sports humanism will be honoured at a session attended by the Secretary of State for Sport, Pedro Dias, and the President of UCP, Isabel Capeloa Gil.

The session is the result of a collaborative project between the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ) and the Manuel Sérgio Chair - Sport, Ethics and Transcendence (UCP-CITER).

The event starts at 4pm and will feature a screening of the documentary ‘Manuel Sérgio: Biography and Dictionary of Ethics and Sport’, curated by the writer Gonçalo M. Tavares. Afterwards, journalist Paulo Sérgio will moderate a round table bringing together Gonçalo M. Tavares (Professor, author), José Carlos Lima (Coordinator of the National Plan for Ethics in Sport) and Alfredo Teixeira (Coordinator of the Manuel Sérgio Chair). The panel discussion includes the presentation of the latest volume in the Chair's collection, entitled ‘Sport, Freedom and Democracy’, published by UCP Editora.

This will be a privileged opportunity to celebrate Manuel Sérgio's innovative vision, which has inspired athletes, coaches, politicians and researchers over the last few decades.

Free entry, subject to registration.
