Summit of Democracies | Open Day 2026

The Institute of Political Studies at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa is organising, as part of Open Day 2026, the “Summit of Democracies”, which this year is dedicated to the theme “How to defend democracy in the new geopolitical landscape?”.

Every year, the initiative invites teams of secondary school students from across the country to take part in an international simulation, representing different countries and debating the main challenges facing contemporary democracies. The aim is to promote critical thinking, debate and engagement with the global political landscape.

This initiative will take place on 16 April at the Universidade Católica's headquarters in Lisbon.
