On 16 October, the University of Silesia in Katowice organizes the Science Communication Workshop “Science Spark – The Spark That Ignites Curiosity”.

How can we talk about science, conduct experiments and inspire young explorers? What makes some children ask “Why?” with curiosity, while others, when faced with a scientific experiment, say, “Science isn’t for me”?

Sometimes all it takes is a single mystery, a surprising experiment, or an unexpected question to make a difference. This is what Science Spark is all about: the spark of curiosity that can mark the beginning of a fascinating adventure in science.

In this interactive online workshop participants will explore how to talk about science in a way that not only communicates knowledge but, above all, sparks curiosity and encourages independent discovery.

Together, we will consider what makes children and young people want to listen to science, ask questions and seek answers on their own. We will discuss how to popularize science, technology and the natural sciences in ways that are engaging, accessible and inspiring.

The workshop will be conducted by Aneta Szczygielska-Łaciak and Marcin Łaciak, professors from the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Silesia in Katowice.
