School of Arts is once again partnering with Doclisboa, one of Portugal's oldest film festivals dedicated to the documentary genre. This edition includes a masterclass by Ross McElwee, who will lead a masterclass at the School of Arts on October 23, at 6:30 p.m., in the Ilídio Pinho Auditorium.

Ross McElwee's masterclass comes in the context of the festival screening of his latest film, Remake. It will be a pleasure for the School of Arts and a unique opportunity for its students to welcome one of the most prestigious documentary filmmakers in the history of cinema.

Short Bio

Ross McElwee is an American filmmaker whose work combines autobiography, cultural observation, and humor. His hit film, Sherman's March, won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. In that film, he learned to embrace the joy that sometimes comes from working with his modified approach to cinéma verité—an approach that can yield moments of life unfolding before the camera, effortlessly and often with humor.
