The ninth session of the "Reading Music" series – the reading group run by the Research Centre for Communication and Culture (CECC) on topics such as music and literature – presents a collection of Ezra Pound’s musical and poetic criticism, as compiled by R. Murray Schafer in the anthology "Ezra Pound and Music: The Complete Criticism" (1977). The text will be presented by PhD student Alyse Fan and moderated by Sara Eckerson.

The session will begin with a brief presentation by PhD student Hajer Khader El Bizri on Umm Kulthum, to complement the group’s previous discussion on Edward W. Said’s “Memory, Solitude, and Affirmation”.

This session will take place on 16 June in the Timor Room at 3.30 pm.

No formal knowledge of music is required to participate.

The readings will be made available before each session. To receive the materials, please email: cecc@fch.lisboa.ucp.pt.
