Opening of the exhibition "Saal Neon" by Ângela Ferreira

The School of Arts at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa opens the exhibition "SAAL Neon 2023", by Ângela Ferreira, on October 25 at 18:30.

SAAL Neon is an ongoing research project based on the state housing construction program, SAAL (Serviço de Apoio Ambulatório Local), which emerged after the April 25 Revolution in Portugal and tried to meet the housing needs of disadvantaged populations.

At the School of Arts of the Universidade Católica, in two acts, the artist Ângela Ferreira takes up this project and inaugurates in the Exhibition Hall a constellation of works around this extensive research and a lumpen sculpture on the façade of the Arts Building. The SAAL theme chosen here as the working motto focuses on the participatory side of the inhabitants who collaborated in the construction of their homes. The sculpture animates an image left over from a movie, which shows the transportation of a bucket of cement between characters. The human and collaborative aspect of building a new society is celebrated here.

The exhibition will be open until February 5, 2024.
